So much happening so fast.  Hank Johnson under fire near Pune. Hunted by multiple teams with hazy agendas.  Best intel. If he dies as a simulacrum, he dies.  The question is how much of his residual memory has been activated by the breadcrumbs.  Does he have any idea who's after him and why.  Is he seeing what we're seeing? Devra is in similarly precarious straits.  What is she doing?  And what happened to her sample serum? Operation Essex thinks she's gone over to Hulong? Did she?  And what is going on with Hulong?  Are we to assume that 'Smith' is the infamous Antoine Smith? Then there's the Klue/Ada issue.  Is Ada going insane?  Is there some other explanation?  Has Klue figured out an exploit?  This is getting very interesting.  Very interesting.  I love the fact that Ada wonders if she's contacted me.

This is important. I am hearing about more and more transcript leaks coming from Portals.  I am not the source of these leaks, whatever some might think.  However, I'm beginning to suspect that some work I did a couple years ago might have facilitated the exploit that's making these leaks possible.   I fully support the person releasing this data -- especially now that Hank Johnson has been silent for a while and the 1959 Protocol have been implemented.  As for the efficacy of that, I don't know...  I'm on the fence.  What do you think?

So it seems that Redacted wants Hank alive.  The thing that keeps ringing in my head is that Hank Johnson is the 'key'.  Key.  Key to what?  And who plans on using it?  Any way around, it seems like forces are closing in around him. Thanks for the Birthday wishes.  Been tracking a lot of things.  Rumors of Klue/Ada conversations appearing in missions.  Would ask agents in areas where we were together to seek them out.  I'm not sure how they are dropping or who is dropping them, but it seems to me that some pieces are going to come together.  They have been quiet for a while with no explanation.  Silence worries me. By the way, blowing out birthday candles seems to me to be an odd tradition? Why would you blow out the light?

Seems like Wright and I are on the same page with Yik. Should have started closely following Operation Essex  a long time ago. Now its time to flip the cards...  What about the organization referred to as Anti-Magnus? Who are they? Why do we hear so little about them?  Have we ever met one of them?  If so, who?  Is Anti-Magnus a mirror of 13MAGNUS? What’s their agenda other than to defeat 13MAGNUS? That seems kind of limited. Well, I guess every sports team exists to defeat other sports teams so that’s not that weird, but these guys seem to be playing for very high stakes.

Here’s a tricky question that we’ve been dancing around for a while. There’s a lot of suggestion that the Niantic Project was secretly an attempt to create a 13MAGNUS.  Seems that there were around 13 investigators, depending on who you count -- maybe more. Any way around, this seems to have been Calvin’s baby. Given that Calvin was in on Waratah (hope I spelled that right) and Whydah, he kind of has a history with strange investigations, but it seems that he’s had a thing about 13MAGNUS ever since he hired Hank to find out about them back when Hank was still in school and stumbled on the term.  The odd thing is that Calvin seems to have decidedly little interest in Anti-Magnus.  Wouldn’t that be kind of like playing poker and only caring about the red cards? Come to think of it, there are 13 cards in a suit, not counting the mysterious often duel nature high/low aces. But I’m straying here. Back to 13MAGNUS.  Was the Niantic Project an attempt to create one, and if so, why?

Was reading posts.   I was kind of amazed to see that some people are surprised to see that I’m dodging ADA. Where do we start? She mind-hacks my girlfriend, stalks me even when I’m off the grid. Yeah, she might have been helpful keeping me alive when some guy tried to whack us. Then again, it might not have been her that saved me. She might have sent out the hitter for all I know. Suffice to say, ADA is a bag of worms, and lets not forget that she has reason to fear me. I got her over the sentience threshold... I know what’s inside her and she knows it. Come to think of it, if I were ADA, I wouldn’t want me around either. Question is. What are Ada and Klue up to now?

So what do we know about Jarvis. Last time we heard him he was bloviating about the structure of the Universe. Okay, that might be harsh, but I might be non-aligned right now, but old school ties are hard to cut. When was that tape made. Sure, it was post peering into the Black Stone, but is it recent?  And what was going on with the Dark XM theft withered Jarvis bit. Is that disinformation or is he about to do the maximum CUT TO?  And were he to finally cross over to another dimension, who’d take his place atop the Enlightened? Lynton-Wolfe (who’s been curiously silent)? Hank (cult leader isn’t really his style, but then again, he doesn’t he host Nomad?)? Klue? Or somebody else? And what happens with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of A.I’s? Yeah, I know its ‘ethical treatment’ but the whole thing was a massive cover and scam, kind of like Jarvis’ artwork, much of which was plagiarized from the Shapers.  Okay, I’ve beaten on Jarvis enough. But what is going on with him?

Oh yeah. And while we’ve been talking about Romantic Poets and Kipling stories, there’s something we haven’t been talking about. That would be Dr. Devra Bogdanovich. I’m not seeing her on any class lists at the University, so what is she up to? 10-1 she’s got as many people after her as Hank, but she’s probably hiding in plain sight. Her Portal Vaccine is a hugely unresolved issue. I’m saying we keep an eye on Farlowe, Wright and Hulong. They seem to be deep into the darker aspects of XM.  And it wouldn’t surprise me that there are certain people who might want to take her out of play (remember the whole Bobby affair? Whatever happened to him? My feeling is that he either went the way of the coed or he’s mixed up in a mess). As speaking of Devra, what of Roland Jarvis.  More on that tomorrow.

Whoah!  So Devra Bogdanovich  really kicked over a hornets nest today. I'm just seeking the truth here, but what if what she's saying is true.  What if she really is the victim of a smear campaign by hostile forces recklessly leaking XM into the world for power and profit?  I'm not saying I believe that, I am simply asking the question.  We have to ask questions.  If you were to offer a defense for her, what would it be?  We have to think all the way around problems.  And consider this.  Even if she is wrong, does it make the other side right?

I'll be honest. I was part of the Niantic Project. Well, a footnote character before the project really began. I thought this all more or less started out there and haven't really placed a lot of stock in the ancient origins of all this...  Not that I'm criticizing people who do, but that just wasn't my focus, and it probably won't be my focus, but I have to say that the chain reaction of discussions caused by a Stein Lightman post, followed by a Yuri Alaric Nagassa post has got me to thinking...  Does History itself endlessly recurse in different guises?   Okay, I'll stop thinking that now.  Back to the here and the now.  My question:  What's going on with Devra Bogdanovich?  She's been curiously silent since her ouster from the Center.  And for that matter, what's the last we heard of Hubert Farlowe  and November Lima.  So many rogue operatives, so little time.

Okay, so back to Hank in Afghanistan. Unless I’m very wrong, he somehow snagged Kipling’s map and books left by 'Danny Dravitt (aka Josiah Harlan or something like that) and is reverse engineering the guy played by Michael Caine in the movie's overland path to India.   And if I’ve figured this out, you can guess all sorts of other people who would very much like to waterboard Hank have already figured it out. That would be the NIA, Visur, Anti-Magnus, maybe 13MAGNUS because Hank seems to be off the reservation, Ada and a host of others.   So where is Hank? He’s been kind of spotty about  his location in his reports. Can’t say I blame him, just saying that he’s not exactly sending us an itinerary. There’s the Afghan map that flickered on the Ingress Report, but that pre-dates Kipling by centuries. But then, maybe it was good enough and that's what these two Masonic low-lives used. And then there are the Romantic Poets. You’ve got to love this one. Four notables get together during the Volcanic Winter at Villa Diodati near Lake Geneva (is that ringing bells or what?). The notables are Percy Shelley, his wife Mary, Lord Byron and their friend John William Polidori. They read a bunch of German ghost stories one spooky night and out come Frankenstein, the first Vampyre novel, a Vampyre Poem and Ozymandias, arguably the first mummy story. Sounds like a volcano infused meeting of a bunch of Romantics (can you spell Enlightened) who peer into a dark abyss and create the Universal Monster franchise. But its a lot more than that.  Read between the lines and you see Recursion, Simulacrums, Osiris and the conquest of death. Of course, just like the Niantic Epiphany, the ripples spread out. Okay, so where are we? We seem to have two threads running. There’s the whole Kipling, MWWBK thread. I get it. Hank Johnson, Kipling’s guy ‘Peachy’ who’s really some American Quaker and Alexander the Great all found the same anomaly zone in Afghanistan somewhere. Alexander got married somewhere around there, Hank got killed and then recursed and this guy in Kipling’s book got killed, but I’m thinking he didn’t really get killed, but kept going, because he turns up in San Francisco and dies around the same time the Niantic Hotel sinks into the ground in San Francisco. And there’s something interesting. On the last voyage of the Niantic they stopped in Peru to pick up four mysterious passengers under order from the American Consulate. Who were they? What was the Niantic carrying? Yesterday, I had a near miss with death.  I was walking down the street and a car accelerated, swerved towards me and crashed into a tree.  The driver got out of his car saying that all of the sudden the car started racing and steering towards me like it was trying to kill me.  He had nothing to do with it.  I smelled something on his breath.  Was he lying, or was this a grim warning from Ada?  I don't know. Wasn't it almost exactly a year ago that Ada hacked Klue?  And what have we done?  Nothing. Time to get serious and take her down.  Now it appears Ada may be inflicting the same thing on regular people.  What is it going to take to stop her?  I want Klue back.  Don't we all? Forgive me if this is an emotional post, but I found yesterday's Ingress Report extremely disturbing.  I know I must atone for the hand I had in creating Ada, but I can't do this alone.  Who agrees with me?  Who will take a stand and help stop Ada? If I had a plan, I would be implementing it.  I am seeking ideas.

WHERE HAS DR. WRIGHT BEEN, ANYWAY?  Haven't heard from him in a disturbing amount of time?  Did he try and make contact with Devra and something go awry?  (I've dug up a lot but I've never learned the reality of that relationship).  I'm beginning to suspect that they don't know that reality either.  Did one of his strange visitors, or 'watchers' finally take him out of the equation?  One thing I'm here to tell you is that the old phrase is true, 'just because you're paranoid doesn't mean somebody isn't following you.  Wright spawned Essex. WHY WE SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT ANTOINE SMITH:  Who is this shadowy character from Hulong?  Simple answer:  a very dangerous guy. The first time we met him was in The Alignment: Ingress.  He and his shadowy partner, Chen,  who was found dead in Mexico City were carrying out a murderous Conflict Metals campaign in Africa and attempting to acquire the secrets of Dark XM from a Congo Crater.  Nearly caused Hank Johnson and Conrad Yeats to recurse before their time. I f we skip past the question of why Smith survived and Chen died (Or did he. Cryptic hints from the Fragment of the Shaper Key suggests that either Chen's death was faked, or they somehow brought him back) we can not escape the fact that  Hulong has been in the Dark XM business for a long time.  But back to Smith. he surfaces again in the Niantic Project Wiki in reference to something called  'The Chaotic Syndrome'.  One reference and then its gone.  What's that?  Does he have it?   What we do know is that he...

Lynton-Wolfe on the Market? Poor Oliver Lynton-Wolfe. He releases iOS and thwarts Devra.  He’s a big hero, but he’s a hero without a country, or more specifically without a lab.  He did all that work back in the Jarvis days, or maybe before. What’s he doing right now?  Hiding out in a cabin without internet?  I know that feeling.  What I think is he’s trying to hire himself out to the highest bidder, but given past experience, I’m thinking IQTech and Hulong think he’s burned bacon, so that only leaves one home.  Have I got that right or am I missing something? HOW MANY DEALS WITH HOW MANY DEVILS:  Before the moment passes, we should take a look at the Calvin/Lynton-Wolfe conversation.  If you remember, it was a year or so ago that Jarvis lured Lynton-Wolfe out of IQTech and then nearly killed him after his failure at Cassandra.  Or was it that Lynton-Wolfe tried to double-cross Jarvis? I can hardly remember myself.  Now, they're speaking again. Not that I'm thrilled about the subject matter. I've yet to hear anything good about Dark XM.  Can some kind of alliance with Jarvis (who may or may not be with us) be in the offing?  Calvin also seems to have re-forged his alliance with Lightman and Schubert, but I don't think they were ever really on the outs. Is Calvin trying to re-form the Niantic Team?  Is an entreaty to Devra far away?  (Somehow he's got to get past the 'Bobby' incident.).  And what has become of Bobby?  There's a lot going on under the surface here.  And why do I get the feeling that all of them ...

YURI NAGASSA MISSING? So we know that there are mysterious artifacts (of what, really?) emerging, and the corporations are allying in ways that are horrifying in concept, but there’s something else happening under the radar to keep an eye on.  +Yuri Nagass has been emitting strange texts.  The Essexians have been transcribing them (where is Wright, by the way? Hasn’t checked in in a while.  Sooner or later somebody is going to come to his door and its going to be all over. But I digress).  As best I can tell, Nagassa returned to his un-contacted (except by him) native friends the Anazteka (you remember, Nagassa grew up with a father at a remote Soviet-era observatory -- wonder what they were looking for).  They were in a  state of excitement about something going on in the Valley of the Dead (not on a map) and he went on a journey. Found something there that upset or excited him. Hard to tell. Then he disappears.  I’m not suggesting that Ingresstigators look for him, I’m sure all sorts...

ADA’S CREATION: Let me clear something up.  My job on the Niantic Project was, put colloquially, helping ADA pass the Turing test (It was actually more complex than that and wasn’t technically a Turing test) so that she could facilitate and monitor the investigators on the Niantic Project as they studied XM. Ada had components of Omnivore, some custom code before I came in and components from a previous AI I constructed. After all, I didn’t get the job out of nowhere.  What I didn’t know about AI is that it would take on a life of its own quite the way ADA did.   So, viewed one way, I’m guilty.  Viewed another way, holding me responsible for what subsequently happened is like holding a parent responsible for their grown child.  Would I do things differently this time?  Of course. Would an ADA like event have happened inevitably.  Of course.  Nevertheless, I own my responsibility for what has happened, and believe me, I have felt the consequences.  Now, I can only proceed from the now a...

JARVIS WARNS OF DANGER AS HELIOS ARTIFACTS EMERGE And I’m inclined to believe him.  You heard me right. I might have leaned Resistance in the past, but I’m back to where I started. Truthseeker.  And you have to look for truth everywhere -- even Roland Jarvis. (By the way, what’s going on with him? I’m hearing rumors. So here’s where we are. We’ve got a Consortium and Arifacts. Consortium of who? Artifacts from what? Some thoughts:  Think back almost a year. The same day (date?).  Carrie Campbell makes the sacrifice and Klue stares into the glyphs and changes forever (forever? Will it be forever?) And what of the Shapers? What do they want? Were they protecting us from ourselves?   And what of Ada? At this point, what is the difference between her and a Shaper? And you’re hearing this from the guy who coded her.

Say what you want to about Wright. He does have an eye. And I felt the same thing.  I was watching Klue and something was wrong, but I'm not objective about these things.

I sat down to review some of the footage from my last meeting with Carrie Campbell in Chicago last year. It was more to honor her memory than anything else, but I noticed something I had failed to last year. As I was waiting for Carrie to arrive, in the background, it appeared as though she may have dropped or hidden a small object or something similar before she approached me? I don't know.... I immediately contacted a trusted source in Chicago and sent him to the area. He scoured the location but could find nothing. Perhaps there was nothing to find... But just in case, Investigators in the area, I would appreciate if you could keep your eyes open.  If Carrie did indeed leave something, it could potentially be tremendously valuable. A gift from the past. This is the location that she seemed to hover near in the video. My source in the area sent this photo to me earlier today.

Excellent question about 'who are the dead?'  I can't answer that right now, but I am trying to find out..  I must confess that one of the reasons I became interested in Artificial Intelligence was to create a kind of immortality.  I could never have predicted what would happen with it and Ada's disturbing plan or the corruption of one as brilliant and innocent as Klue. We didn't know anything about Glyphs or XM or any of the things that are becoming so evident now.  What is coming next?  I don't know.  But I am a truthseeker, and I can seek the truth in the future as well as the past. I do know that I do not want my brain coopted by an artificial intelligence I helped create.

Martin Schubert is a brilliant scientist, but I have a hard time forgetting that he came into the Niantic Project as a skeptic, running away from rumors that his academic opinions often followed grants and other forms of compensation.

Thank all of you for your concern and comments about my return to the investigation.  I was distracted for a time. At some point, we will discuss all of this. I still have some unfinished business. But to the problem at hand. The clock it ticking. We are nearing Comic-Con, which is when all of this began.   Here is how I see the present situation.  Devra has unleashed a vaccine or an inoculation or a virus (they can sometimes be the same thing: like smallpox to cowpox) which threatens to choke off the portals (I am speaking metaphorically, not strictly scientifically).  OLW (Oliver Lynton-Wolfe) has taken the counter measure of unleashing millions of new Ingress Agents who unwittingly think they are playing a game, to keep the XM flowing through the portals and thus keep the Ingression alive.
