Lynton-Wolfe on the Market?
Poor Oliver Lynton-Wolfe. He releases iOS and thwarts Devra. He’s a big hero, but he’s a hero without a country, or more specifically without a lab. He did all that work back in the Jarvis days, or maybe before. What’s he doing right now? Hiding out in a cabin without internet? I know that feeling. What I think is he’s trying to hire himself out to the highest bidder, but given past experience, I’m thinking IQTech and Hulong think he’s burned bacon, so that only leaves one home. Have I got that right or am I missing something? What are the pieces of this puzzle?

Joe Philley He said 'bacon'!
ReplyDeleteTony Benson what is icarus and Helios? I know anomaly name but..
ReplyDeleteAndrew Bissel icarus flew too close to the sun and the wax holding his manufactured wings together melted and he fell to his death.
ReplyDeleteHelios is a term for sun. Now as to who or what is Heilos, let's see how far down the rabbit hole we can go. Tony Benson
It seems that Dr Lynton-Wolfe, of all people, should be able to start his own XM Engineering concern. He's no more shy of funding and support than Dr Bogdanovich was when fleeing after Epiphany Night. She recruited a team and was on her way to do some guerrilla science when Pevtsov co-opted her with offers of Visur funding.
ReplyDeleteHe may not have any interest in the quotidian work of meeting payroll or negotiating office space but what he has (the ability to devise and develop XM products) is in rare supply. He can find venture capital to keep him afloat or benefactors outside the established XM research community to handle those aspects of the work. He may even be able to draw upon other individuals who keep themselves off the Consortium org chart, like Edgar Allan Wright, Misty Hannah, or Tycho C.. For that matter, Dasher or Brandt may well be options - The US government is large enough to support conflicting outfits without them knowing each other exists, so the CDC debacle needn't be a barrier there.
sometimes ego messes up redemption and bridges burned often are never repaired, and always are never as stable as the original.
ReplyDeleteYou make a good point Mike Wissinger but OLW is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He has the skills to branch out and do his own research now that he's back in the game, but he doesn't have the XM reserves required to pull it off. For that he needs the Consortium, and they have all been burned by him before.
ReplyDeleteCould become interesting to see if some other organization materializes out of the shadows with a lab and XM stockpile for him to work with. Nemesis maybe?
If only there were indescribably potent objects appearing on the globe and being collected at transient but predictable locations, Wes Cure, he might be able to find the raw materials with which to develop a product the rest of the community would be unable to imagine much less implement.
ReplyDeleteIf ADA can spin up a legal entity to own a lab, she could sponsor Lynton-Wolfe. ADA has a vested interest in sustaining portal XM levels.
ReplyDeleteWas it Lynton-Wolfe who named the Nemesis scanner? Maybe it/they is/are what he was really looking for, not XM.
I'm not sure Oliver Lynton-Wolfe 's goals are aligned with Ilya's and Visur Technology. Going it on his own with a patron may be his most viable path forward.
ReplyDeleteLoyd Hutchings Well, that patron is now "barking mad"... :)
ReplyDeleteVisur Technology sounds about right at the moment. Ilya sounds like a compatible boss too.
ReplyDeletethe idea of ADA founding Oliver Lynton-Wolfe to make XM stuff for her doesn't sound good, I hope he found a place on Visur Technology
ReplyDeleteH. Richard Loeb OWL is a honey badger, he doesn't care; he does what ever he wants. Seriously, while you are hand wringling about his future he's probably creating his next devious scheme to stick it to the man or forming his own XM Kickstarter campaign to get real enlightened work done without being bogged down by the corporate fascists of the world. Hell, I'd help him out cause "He's a baller yo!"
ReplyDeleteAlso, the NIA and corporations are he real enemy to the enlightenment along side ADA, so his working against their schemes is a plus.
Devra is thwarted? Did the decay rate go back to normal?
ReplyDeleteLochlyn Christante is thwarted meant "Gave up when victorious" then yes, Devra was thwarted.
