ReplyDeleteI think it's referring to Houston, TX, USA, where "ground control" for US space flights was located at the time that Bowie's song was originally published. The only country with space operations that used the term "ground control" in communications between astronauts ("Major Tom") and mission control centers at that time was the United States. The location of "ground control" in the US is now the NASA Mission Control Center, currently located in Merritt, Florida.

Interestingly enough, I was decoding a message in a media drop, I think it was one of hank's several months back, which referred to a "glide path" as a hint for a keyword substitution. I wasn't able to figure out what the keyword they meant by that hint, but the "glide path" is an aeronautics term that often applies to space vehicles upon reentry (as well as to planes during landings). Thought I'd mention that... I'll try to figure out where I saw that hint, what media "drop" it was from.
H. Richard Loeb I would suggest that it is the location of ADA's greatest storage and processing facilities at this time or at some point in the past. I would recommend checking out the CERN lab where Epiphany Night occurred, checking out Dr. Bogdonavich's lab that Ilya set up for her, and so on... any place where ADA has "set up shop," so to speak. Those would be ADA's "ground controls" from which she coordinates her "space missions" with Klue as her aeronaut.
