As for the N'zeers/Past/Shapers glyphs I have multiple theories.

First, since past appear enlarged at the middle it may simple imply that Shapers and N'zeers have been here since ancient times. But that's all too boring so I'll move along to the other possible interpretations.
Regardless of their origin as species/gruops, another possibility is that N'zeers were "here" before shapers. Then shapers came along... this also opens the door to a whole new thread of wild speculation. Maybe N'zeers and Shapers are in fact the same race. Maybe Shapers are a dissident group that is more "spiritual-based" instead of "technology-based" and so disagree with the idea of N'zeers or relying so much on energy. So they emancipated and began to fight againts the N'zeers and their views of a "better" future. Then they exploited the N'zeers weaknesses (being from the same race would make this rather easy) and learn how to seal them out of our realm until the Aegis Shield was destroyed.
Yet another possibility is that Shapers and N'zeers had had this fight before in another world. And then the N'zeer saw shapers plans to come to this world and decided to come before them and give humanity tools to advance faster so as the shapers would not have the upper hand manipulating our brains. But in doing so, they became into the same thing their were trying to prevent: manipulators. So then the Shapers came along, took control of the situation and sealed the N'zeers away.
The question is, why do they even care about the future of our race, would it be that we are just pawns to use in their own war... or is there something more to it? Maybe they are both humans in origin but in their alternative dimensions humans become into them, N'zeers if they follow technology and Shapers if they follow energy?
I know it's far fetch and widly speculative
