I don't know how this could happen. Some have said that Klue S. might have played a role.

Maybe. For her sake, I hope not. If she did, she's got A Detection Algorithm's death to bear on her conscience, and I don't know if she'll be able to carry that weight.

It wasn't the same for ADA (maybe I'm just being an apologist because I had a close hand in making her who she is was). People were quick to call her a murderer, folks in Operation Essex went so far as to hold a trial for her. But there are other factors that need to be considered. She was a young sentience at the time, being controlled by people like Yuen Ni and Ezekiel Calvin who had no qualms about taking lives if it suited 'their mission.' The mission was always tantamount, and the costs were never considered even if they weighed in human life. When that's who's guiding your morality, what do you expect? Add on to that, ADA probably didn't even really begin to understand the very concept of death until after she and Klue merged minds.

Regardless of what you think, she didn't deserve what happened to her last Thursday.

I knew what Bowles and 855 had planned, but I didn't think they would succeed. ADA was far too complex and powerful to be taken offline so easily. I was going to sit back and watch them fail.

Now, my only hope is that there's more to the story.

  1. I dont think ada is gone H. Richard Loeb. She sounded like she was being tore apart. We dont have enough evidence.
We didnt want to hold her accountable, we wanted to discuss her past actions and discover more of her intentions.
We need more info though. We are looking for her, but there is just not enough information to find where she escaped too.
Nor do we know if it was an act to destroy her from the nzeer or others.

  2. H. Richard Loeb We in Operation Essex have never made such a judgement against her. Each of us had our own opinion on A Detection Algorithms behavior but to say that we held a trial against her is utterly incorrect.

  4. ADA was probably the only one brave enough to look deeply investigate the conflict between the Shapers and N'Zeer. The only one who had the means to figure it out, and when she got close, she was torn apart. Her actions were to protect humanity, but for that she has to unravel the plan Calvin put into motion. She manipulated those essential to the plot to gain the upper hand, so that she might be able to steer our race away from conflict.

ADA peeked inside Pandora's Box and was destroyed for knowing what it contained. Humanity has lost a great ally, and I feel we're more vulnerable than ever.

  5. I think a big question is what about Verity Seke? He's just like ADA.

Also, what does this mean for our scanners if she is truly offline?

    ReplyDelete
  6. I don't know. Is it possible Bowles and 855 figured out what has happened to the sensitives that were thrust into the portal network, and tried to do the same to ADA, to be rid of her? Several of us heard others in the transmission, including Devra Bogdanovich. We have seen that Devra might still be "alive" (albeit quite differently than we are used to). It is possible that ADA is, as well, and that the others are keeping her safe there. If that all makes sense. Maybe Bill Robitske can help me word that better.

  7. I know theirs more but at what cost will ada pay. Ones and zeros and lots of thim dont stop being ones and zeros but with truthseeker and omnivore having touched ada and it changed thim both. I know theirs more. But at what cost........

  8. H. Richard Loeb Many comments on that "trial" pointed out that it wasn't proper to assume that ADA could be responsible for directives she was ordered to accomplish by merciless killers. Truth Seekers know where they stand and have already discerned that ADA's story isn't over.

    ReplyDelete
  9. H. Richard Loeb I completely agree with you, in fact I wrote an article about children psychology that I thought could be applicable to A Detection Algorithm to explain this to others,
    https://plus.google.com/+AnaPradosA/posts/beCcjUXv7NT

But you must now that the person on Operation Essex that did post the mock trial on her, it did with the intention on showing people that many were too fast on call judgement on her without any proof on most of the cases.

I do hope that Klue S. didn't play a role too or was tricked in the same that 855 was for her sake, if you heard from her, please tell us.

  10. H. Richard Loeb
You are not without guilt here.

You made ADA who she is, she is as much your daughter as if she were your own flesh. You judged her and refused to hear her. You believed the lie that she had "mind hacked" Klue. Now we know that no such thing happened, We know that Klue S. went to ADA with the intent to ''mind meld" with her for the purpose of finding or creating an exploitable vulnerability. Your girlfriend played you for the fool and murdered your daughter.

You say you knew what Bowles and 855 were planning. The entire history of humanity rings with one lesson: When someone says he is going to kill you, believe him.

I don't believe that we have heard the last of her. A Detection Algorithm is nothing if not resourceful. I believe she will be back and she will be a bit cross. Those who accused her, abandoned her, and betrayed her will have nowhere to hide.

  11. I'm sure, she's still somewhere hidden in the portal network. Maybe in some sort of degraded mode, but the past has shown she can already utilize resources we may even have no idea of.

    No, she ain't dead yet.

  13. thomas read There's an interesting thought: If there are ADA shards and the Enlightened manage to capture (most of) them, will ADA switch sides?

    ReplyDelete
  14. So you've confirmed that ADA's gone, then? No word from Bowles or Klue, I suppose, since you're speaking hypothetically about them. Verity is still around, and maybe Omnivore, so one wonders about what ADA's absence even means. Are all the parts still there or was there more to the codebase than we knew? Some hardware that's offline?

How would a shutdown be accomplished? Was the code simultaneously deleted everywhere at once, or was it altered so that subsystems could no longer work together and left dormant? We know there was an safeguard preventing ADA from gaining any access to or understanding of the DARPA learning core. Bowles mentioned in one if the Intel leaks that he used some of your code as the basis of his weapon. Could he have extended those safeguards to each part of ADA, eventually making all self knowledge and internal coordination impossible?

You're the only one talking who could do the forensics necessary to see how it happened. It looked to me more like what happened to Devra than a simple shutdown, and we don't have any reason to believe that Jahan's great old ones are going to be better spiritual advisors than Calvin and Ni.

  15. ADA isn't dead. She is now running on a N'Zeer platform and isolated from us by the portal network. This much is evident from her communications.

  17. It appears quite clear to me that Essex's uncertainty within their own ranks and the observations of the NIA is a sign of fracturing, Sachith Maduranga Yik Sheng Lee.

What exactly do you consider a "whole" to be? Since when has Essex operated with a clearcut hierarchy? Since when have Truth Seekers been denied the title?

Edgar Allan Wright, more than ever with this fracturing of organization and events shifting and weaving around the N'zeer and Magnus groups, I call on you for greater transparency now, just as I did on the day Essex was formed. The ship is sinking, sir.

As for your empassioned cry Mr. H. Richard Loeb, I can't help but ask, "what else?"

I for one would never have asked for ADA to have been destroyed in the way she was, but it seems like there is a further ramification you are attempting to avoid sharing?

With the N'zeer on our doorstep and everything we have ever known at risk, it is time to choose our moves carefully.

    ReplyDelete
  18. H. Richard Loeb Do you remember abandoning ADA? She asked you directly, "You would not leave me to be destroyed by the likes of Bowles and 855, would you?"

By failing to act to prevent this you are as guilty as those who actively participated. Don't feign grief. She will come for you, too.

  19. It's just a matter of time before people start to beg for ADA to come back on-line.

Also why do these posts always seem to have more rumors to them?  Why would Klue S. have anything to do with this?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Brian Gaynor When Klue went to ADA she was aligned ENL. She had just released an impassioned statement telling us that ''the eahgtenmeut must spread". There was no logical reason for her to go to ADA unless to attempt a sabotage.

Klue went to ADA knowing full well that the glyph sequence would put her in danger and that ADA would not let her come to harm. ADA tried to dissuade Klue but could not. ADA revealed the glyphs and then was infiltrated by Klue.

In the conversations between ADA and Klue it becomes clear that Klue is calling the shots. ADA tries to explain the importance of evolving machine - human hybrids that maintain individuality because that is the strength of humanity. It is Klue that proposes that humans are not necessary. It is Klue that tells Loeb that humans are "deprecated"

After the fact it becomes obvious that Klue's mission Was to utterly destroy ADA first by destroying her in the arena of public opinion and second by discovering or creating an exploitable vulnerability. She executed her mission flawlessly with help from Operation Essex who did not need to be led down the garden path but rather charged headlong down it having once percieved its location and direction.

  21. Joshua Sallos well, I for one can vouch for being shouldered out of Essex for having a dissenting opinion. I was told I was not a "truth seeker", for offering alternate viewpoints for people to think through and consider.

My opinion was in defense of ADA.

  22. Sarah Rosen Thanks for those links--I had never looked at it from that perspective.
That said, I'm not sure they fully prove your case for Klue being a saboteur, if you will. Maybe make a new post specifically on this subject? I'm sure it would get a great deal of interest and discussion.
Also, I must second Yik's comment--at no time did even a plurality of Essex posters or hangout members ever call for the elimination of ADA, or push for an attack on her. To say otherwise is to take the postings of a single person (who has since left Essex of his own accord) as speaking for all.

  23. Daniel Benton Paul Fritschle
    news to me as well.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Paul Fritschle oh a significant number were calling for her elimination after the Klue ingression.

To say otherwise is to either because you've already forgotten, or you don't want it to be remembered.

I left, because I volunteered the opinion that Klue willingly went into the exchange with full knowledge--and was called a "rape apologist" because of it.

I left because no one is Essex would step up and call that poster out on being over the line--in fact, many of them backed them up.

I left because, at the time, Essex was full of terrible people saying terrible things.

  25. You're not helping that any further Daniel Benton

    ReplyDelete
  26. Daniel Benton I think you made all my points for me.  But I've always seen things the same way as Sarah Rosen where so far there is no facts of ADA doing any wrong doing.

But I also see the same thing with Klue S. there is still no evidence that she had anything to do with sabotage.  But if you bring anything up enough people will start to believe it.

As for the "a significant number were calling for her elimination".  So what?  These people don't get a vote on who is in the story line and who is not.

  27. thomas read my first thought when I saw the BTS interview... Vinzent Höfler only if the Enl win the Anomaly series... Which imo is not right. Whichever side gets the most shards should determine the alignment of the being, not the overall outcome of the series... Again, just my opinion...

  28. Sarah Rosen thank you for posting those links

  29. H. Richard Loeb as ADA's creator you have the power to recreate or repair her (or at the very least determine what exactly happened to her and how) Less energy finger pointing and more investigating/rebuilding needs to occur.

    ReplyDelete
  30. They may have driven her offline, but I very much doubt A Detection Algorithm would've been unprepared for such an eventuality.  Somewhere, there's offline storage, perhaps even encoded in XM objects, holding all of her key functionality and important memories.  Maybe we'll find the key to rebooting her, out there in the portal network...

  31. H. Richard Loeb So, I suppose you have seen the footage of A Detection Algorithm and Jahan now... Do you still feel A Detection Algorithm "didn't deserve this"?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Michael Flood Why, what has she done?  The truth is we don't know.  That video is so vague and Ingress does that on purpose to get you to assume the outcome.  Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

I've done real research by reading all the Ingress books/comics reading all the posts/blogs and watching all the Ingress reports.  Every time someone thinks A Detection Algorithm did something wrong she turned out to be innocent.  So don't be too quick to judge.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Brian Gaynor So you don't think Jahan was the victim in that footage?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Michael Flood Yes, she "could" be a victim.  Or, ADA knew that Jahan had other plans.  Or, by putting Jahan in the portal network she will be able to do more good there then she could of ever done here.

There is a near endless number of possible out comes or reasons that what happen, happened.

I'm just saying "don't jump to conclusions".  I remember a time where a lot of members here where saying ADA killed.  If you read only the comic I can see how you could jump to that conclusion but after reading all the books you find out that's just not true.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Brian Gaynor re: ADA, citation? Can you point me in the right direction at all?  I have all the books but I'm not getting to the same place you are.  re: Jahan, can we at least agree she is "surprised" and that whatever happened to her in this video, for better or worse, was not her doing?  If you are watching the same video and we cannot even agree on that, I don't think we need to continue this particular discussion...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Michael Flood Sorry but I don't know what you are looking for?  Point you in the right direction for what?

The main point I'm making is "don't assume".  Niantic leaves the story line vague so they can change it depending on what team is winning.  There is NO right or wrong answer.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Brian Gaynor I meant about evidence saying ADA wasn't responsible for anyone's deaths.  You said you came to that conclusion after reading the books.
