I don't share all the weird leaks that are sent to me, but I thought you would find this amusing. Its a conversation between Ken Owen (chief propagandists for the NIA -- don't laugh, he might be running it at this point) and our old friend Joanna Brandt.
JOANNA BRANDT:  It would be more politic if in the future you referred to Congressman Dasher by his real name as opposed to Senator Bombthrower or whatever you called him.
OWEN:  For the record, I wasn’t referring to him, but I realize that we live in an age when all communications should be assumed to be public.  My mistake.
JOANNA:  You of all people.
OWEN:  It happens to studio heads, too.

  1. So we're not the only one's that thought it was Dasher he was referring to.  But that can't be his real name either.  There is no Dasher in the House or the Senate that I'm aware of...

  2. Ken owens is one of those people who kinda grows on you after awhile

  3. maybe it is like when Richard asked ADA to take his name out of references in the Niantic Project and such....

  4. That is an amusing leak, leak. we did not hear from Joanna Brandt on a long time...

  5. I wonder if there is some hidden meaning behind bombthrower. Boom!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah. Seems like Dasher is a secret service name or something.  Its funny when they get testy about their codenames.

  7. It gets better...

What do you think the chances are that they actually release this now that I've found it?

Leaked draft of Ken Owen's NIA press release about the Ingress Scanner Recruiter Medal:

    Attention Ingress Agents:

As I am sure you have become aware, Ingress is not simply a game.  I should note that the NIA did not release the Ingress app. In fact, we are not certain exactly who placed it on the Play Store over two years ago.  When that happened, we had a choice, we could either reveal secret information or simply let Ingress remain as a valuable tool for gathering Exotic Matter and furthering scientific research.  It was a very difficult decision, but as there had been no proven deleterious effect of Exotic Matter (XM) and many found it beneficial, we decided that the needs of national security overrode all other concerns.  Since then, much has happened.

We are now entering a new phase of transparency.  XM has become a vital resource in scientific and industrial applications, and even for the advancement and protection of the human race. We are working to increase the impact the Scanner can have on all of these fronts, and to that end, we are releasing a new Ingress Scanner medal, codenamed 'The Recruiter.'

  8. well if he is keeping the faucet on, I guess you'd not want to get testy

  9. Ah, Owen was talking about someone else (or pretended to be).  I wonder if Brandt is going to be tasked with going down the roll call and seeing who might be letting the NIA double-dip from Uncle Sam's expense account?

  10. A new phase of transparency? Owning up to something after it was leaked isn't exactly transparency, Mr. Owen.

  11. Wow, I'm really impressed with this new transparency approach.  I didn't believe it at first, but this press release is quite interesting.  H. Richard Loeb Will he be posting this publicly at some point?  I suppose he wasn't just expecting to send it through you.  (No offense)

  12. Is Ower recognizing that ingress is not a game!!! Really? What it is going on there?

    ReplyDelete
  13. H. Richard Loeb Will you check for fake accounts? Would that be legal? And what should keep a player from ordering 100 free sim cards and creating 100 dummy g+ accounts for only one purpose: to last only the 10 days it will take to get them all to level 3.

  14. Why do I think he won't be posting this publicly after I leaked it?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'll be curious to see if he does change the official stance.  That draft could easily be passed off as a triple-bluff (not a game, yeah right) by most readers, tying the hide-in-plain-sight strategy to the context of his cover-ARG.  If he does shift tactics it may indicate a shift in the risk-reward balance between Shapers and N'Zeer in Owens' ledger.

  16. H. Richard Loeb
Did you get the memo on “the best way to ruin ingress is to promote it”?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Mike Wissinger maybe that will act as a diversion to keep her off ADA's back - hmmmm do we know what Ken Owen really thinks of ADA?

    ReplyDelete
  18. It would be interesting if Ken Owen was aligned with 13Magnus - Do you remember what the first definition of 13Magnus was that we heard (and that it was supposedly Calvin saying this)?

"The mission of Thirteen (13) Magnus is to monitor the affects of mind hacking. Obviously this will be
done with the highest security to make sure the ideas do not contaminate or threaten humanity.”

    ReplyDelete
  19. I would suppose H. Richard Loeb that we are now an open secret.

    ReplyDelete
  20. At first I thought by "mind-hacking" they meant Shaper-influence.  But with the rest of the 13Magnus ideology versus the Anti-Magnus/N'zeer followers, perhaps it was more the monitoring of the ADA-style mind hacking...or maybe just all mind hacking...idk

At what point does their goal of monitoring the effects of mind-hacking and human contamination meet with their goal of keeping the rituals of resurrection secret?

  21. Hank Johnson I would like to know the same three things that Yik Sheng Lee asked.
