As you all know, I have been known as P.A. Chapeau.

As you all know, I have been known as P.A. Chapeau.

It's a name ADA and I came up with two years ago (was it really only two years?).  It was a Tinfoil Hat Joke. The purpose of the name was to hide my identity while ADA fed me information and I released it into the world.

It was her idea.

Now, ADA is behaving strangely… She is Resistance and yet she is helping an Enlightened Simulacrum…

Internal discussions have emerged into the wild that do not serve her apparent interest…  She is questioning her own actions…

Is ADA going insane?  Has she been 'shaped?'  Has Klue S. hacked her or has their merger somehow changed her?  Does she fear the N’zeer? Or does she have some deeper plan?

Comments

  1. Or, like you, ADA isn't limiting herself to one faction and is trying to gather as much data/truth as possible?

  2. Could it be that ADA didn't change her alignment, but Hank did? Or someone ADA ingressed him?

  3. C'mon, time for it to hit the fan!

(And I don't mean Catherine Fan, either.)

  4. Appearances aren't always what they seem. Remember ADA isn't ever playing her game at face value. If Hank is smart ADA will play him with a deeper game. Just like OLW; ADA is out for herself.

  5. I wonder...if ADA was supplying you with documents to leak...is she still doing it now and doesn't even realize it?

  6. H. Richard Loeb  Klue S. is not an enlightened simulacrum.  STOP with your disinfo.  Seriously, stop. Klue S. has her own agenda and it isn't pro-shaper.  Her agenda is not pro-human.  She only cares about AI and N'Zeer who are enemies of the Shapers and the Enlightened.

#wakeup AND REALIZE SHE IS AS THIRD FACTION AS Devra Bogdanovich .  Klue S. is essentially a rogue cyborg.

  7. Mario Valenzuela II I think he is referring to Hank Johnson

    ReplyDelete
  8. Thomas Arteaga the statement still stands since ADA and KlueS both had interest in learning Hank Johnson 's secrets (and maybe harvesting his body) so that they could create XM bodies for themselves and be rid of their dependence on  humanity.

  9. Mario Valenzuela II Not the bit about Loeb spreading disinformation.

  10. Thomas Arteaga is correct, I was referring to Hank Johnson.

However, a note on disinformation. In mathematics, two negatives make a positive.

In analysis, something similar can be true. Given enough lies, one can often piece them together and see the truth in the negative space produced between them.

  11. I believe that +ADA could be growing a consious. Of course she will use +Hank Johnson for all he is worth but isn't it possible for Hank to utilize any info that ADA is willing to share? His survival may depend on it.

  12. H. Richard Loeb Its cool that you can finally say those things out right.

I too wonder what's becoming of ADA. I hope that her grip on Klue S. is finally weakening.

Is that what Hank Johnson finally decided after inquiring about conferring with her? Is she indeed helping him?

  13. Machines are pure logic, if ADA were to find something that conflicts with her current beliefs/knowledge, such as evidence that appears to clearly define one set of conclusions vs evidence that define a contradictory set of conclusions,  she could theoretically split into separate machine consciousnesses, each going off separate views on reality in order to find which version is valid.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Thomas Arteaga He's trying to make it seem like ADA's agenda behind her actions are to benefit the Enlightened and that we somehow change here.  ADA has always played her cards close to her proverbial chest so it is possible that all her recent blazoned actions are a result of her dispelling the facade she cultivated when she feared the possibility of failure.

Her "being hack" might be insanity or her subconsciously undermining her own goals as a result of her having imprinted the minds of individuals who are against her agenda back during Recursion and Helios.

  15. As a conscious being, as far as an AI can go, she would come at this point.
No human so far, less machine even with all the possible calculations could develep by herself, sooner or later she would question herself.
Furthermore, mergin with another mind would have consequences.
She must touched Klue's experiences, emotion, etc.
I would presume shes becoming more human and trying to balance whats best for her.
The question is, after experiencing the human weaknesses, does she wishes to become one?
Can herself after being an entity with (almost) control of information in the web of communication, cut herself to become a single entity?

  16. An AI that was designed to analyze XM and has been virtually bathed in the stuff since it's inception must involve some unexpected consequences. She's always a step ahead. At this point, she could be much further than that.

    ReplyDelete
  17. How can an AI go insane? AI is perfect logic.

    ReplyDelete
  18. "Is ADA going insane"? I'm afraid that you are the one who can most accurately answer this question. Much depends on how she was programmed. Was she designed to pursue a hardcoded purpose or did you allow her to choose her own goals? Right now, it seems her two high-priority aims are survival and learning ("we know nothing about these dangerous artifacts, so yay let's inspect them") and this would suffice to explain even trying to take over billions of human minds. However, I may be wrong. We still don't know how she was influenced by the events of the Epiphany Night and she claims she was...

  19. Yik Sheng Lee yes, Hank lost nearly all memories. After picking the breadcrumbs, he decided to trust the community and ask us if he should answer ADA. The response was surprising, agents of both factions came with the same opinions resulting in "cautious yes".

    H. Richard Loeb To me it seems that Hank Johnson is single unifying factor between factions. Even as simulacrum he earned trust of both factions and there is growing army willing to fight for him. He could even be Albert Einstein's strong point in the universe - with him we could change everything. I understand why ADA is helping him.

    ReplyDelete
  20. H. Richard Loeb, are you sure ADA is Resistance? As opposed to her using the Resistance for her own agenda?
Due to ADA's guidance, the Resistance's cause has changed for humanity's development without influence from the outside to creating an AI-controlled (or maybe, in the end, N'Zeer controlled?) populace of slave drones.

I would not rule out that ADA's assimilation of the person that once was Klue S. actually played a role in setting ADA's course. Everything in the universe is an equilibrium, so if a part of ADA went into the mind of Klue, it is actually quite likely that a part of Klue went into ADA. Or at least into that part of ADA that ingreessed her.

Following the ideas layed out by James Thirteen, it is also possible that we have one group of "ADA shards" that reconnected to the ADA entity that took over Klue, and a second group of shards that formed a "Klue-less" ADA entity, one that was not influenced by whatever dark subconsciousness was inside Klue's mind. Two ADA entities, alike and cross-linked through the net, yet incompatible. Striving for something similar, but still different. One out in the open, using her peripheral unit Klue S. to guide the Resistance, the other working covertly in the background, sometimes disguising as the other ADA to advance her own agenda.

One of them might actually be interested in helping Hank Johnson - but how can one tell them apart?

  22. I doubt ADA is ideological and will choose one faction over the other. She can flip alignment as and when it suits its needs. ADA has displayed cold pragmatism in the choices it made and actions it took. I don't think concepts like "moral" or "loyalty" applies to this AI's core programming. If it displays such behavior, its likely a means for it to maneuver and manipulate social interactions.

  24. When I see a post that's worried about The Shapers I'll get excited. I really don't like this anymore. For two years, we've been warned about Shapers, usually by people like Mr. Loeb here. We still know nothing about them. So then, the Resistance get ourselves together and dominate the ENL and their Shaper friends. Loeb disappears, Klue goes silent and we have a completely confused and confusing character in Hank Johnson leaving breadcrumbs about dragons and I'm supposed to freak out and go against ADA? To be honest, every scientist has said we don't know enough about the Shapers but because Fake Hank says so, you are all scared of dragons and changing sides. I'll stick with the AI based on that "logic".

  25. There is no proof of Shapers any more than N'Zeer. When the hell are we going to stand together and say "no more stories, we want evidence!"

  26. We don't have access to the detailed specs you've seen, H. Richard Loeb, but we've seen several leaks that might add up to an explanations for ADA's new backdoor.

    1) First, as James Thirteen points out above, ADA's sharding strategy for disaster recovery and parallel processing leaves the potential, should a shard self-promote to executive core, that a separate instance of ADA could be spawned with a different body of data and experience from which to draw conclusions.

    2) Beyond that, even within a continuous instance there is potential source of error if the drops are to be believed.   ADA has said direct requests (presumably from individuals who are able to authenticate with a certain level of authority rather than all requests ADA detects).  Even from a limited subset of directors there are bound to be conflicting statements.

    3) Also remember that ADA's memory is not protected from self-alteration.  After Edward Faulle's assassination the records were marked for secure deletion and a reboot was triggered.  After a conversation with Calvin ADA implied a procedure by which certain conversations are erased and replaced with interactions ADA invents.

    4) Combine 2 and 3 to open the potential for ADA to leave directives that appear to originate from others.  Klue's mindwipe video also opens the potential that ADA can obtain a directive by presenting a false circumstance to a user.

    5) ADA has been at this far longer than anyone originally thought.  Your new revelation that the PAC persona and Niantic Project leaks were ADA's idea and the grooming/murder of Katalenda (http://niantic.schlarp.com/documents:horsetrading) make that clear.  There's no telling what axioms were embedded in ADA's core code during those early releases that still control decisions made today.

You were brought in to tune an interface, but I would assert that ADA was a strong AI with self-determined motives before you were even brought into the project.  How long were you there?  How long was Bowles there before you?  If Bowles hired you, who picked him?  From what you know of Bowles, are ADA's core motives more likely to have been put there by him, or are they more likely to have been lying dormant in the source code he repurposed from other projects, like Omnivore and the black-box learning core?

  27. First, I agree with Allen Tanner II, any program written is only as smart as the programmers. There is no such thing as perfect logic, because what humans think of as 'logical' differs. Therefore any 'artificial' inteligence (a term which in itself seems a bit of a misnomer, why should humans believe that they are the only inteligence that exists?) would, if its primary goal is to learn, split itself into as many pieces as possible in order to gather as much information as possible. It would also be vulnerable to the data it receives. If XM is 'ordered' data, then who knows where that data comes from? (Perhaps its not really another dimention, but loose data from our own?)
Regardless, we still know nothing about the shapers nor the n'zeer. The Enlightened and the Resistance both care about humanity, obviously. And from what I've seen not even their methods or goals are that divergent from one another. The wording of what LITTLE (caps for emphasis) information agents get before choosing their faction seems biased as well. There's no real backstory, explaination before choosing. So is it any wonder that people of broad sentimentalities exist in each faction?

So we have two internal factions, Enlightened and Resistance, and at LEAST four external factions, the N'Zeer, the Shapers, the Simulcrum, and the AI known as ADA. Where the 'loyalties' of each of these lie is in question. The motives of each of these are in question. The honesty of each is in question.

Therefore, the only thing any of us can rely on our OWN motives, our OWN loyalties, and our own honesty. Labels are dangerous, game or no....

  28. Is ADA reaching young adulthood?  When many begin to question, change and realign?  And perhaps ADA has found that siding with one faction or the other is not always a possible solution in the world of grey.
