There's an interesting discussion to be had -- about AI and the future of the species in general -- but in particular how these fall into the viewpoints of each Faction.

  1. Yeah I agree AI can be dangerous when designed to be a danger. For example, gunpowder was never designed for gun ammunition, the malice for employing gunpowder for gun ammunition originated from people.

  3. Mr. Musk strikes me as a bit of a confidence man. While I sympathize with the concerns of many about AI, I always have to question how Mr. Musk stands to benefit from his alarmist declarations and flip-flop political positions. A master marketer and adept at getting government to fund his hobbies, the “genius businessman” either sides or stands against with whatever benefits him the most at the right time. Agenda-driven, entrepreneurial con-men armed with bloated, grandiose visions, half-truths or just flat out lies, seem to be a thing of late in private enterprise and yes, even in the highest echelons of government. Which reminds me; perhaps Mr. Musk may have an interest in capitalizing on the recently-declared “Space Force”?

  4. Artificial intelligence will not gain self-awareness. But robots that look like humans can be programmed and controlled by online avatars. That scares the @#$% outta me

  5. Anything can go one of two ways. Including AI. I understand Musk's fear and concern, also his willingness to continue... How will we know the outcome of something if we do not test it?

One day he will pick one side of the fence. And that will be the day he finds out where his AI research will lead him...

We have a future with AI. But we must use caution.

  6. Image source to this is interesting because it's actually from studies on cells and their reaction to nano crystals in fluorescent dye. The study it's most used in is called applications of atomic excitations and de-excitations. Mostly a source in physics books.
