ReplyDeleteI concur with +Hank Johnson about the knowledge of the Aboriginal Australians. After reading about songlines and also aboriginal artists illustrating their dreams, these are people that were and are very creative. (ex: Papunya Tula Artists Pty Ltd and Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri)
I was wondering who were the ancient gods of the Aboriginal Australians. I discovered some of them are tricksters.
The Bluetongue Lizard especially piqued my curiosity as he is a sorcerer.
As per Wikipedia: "Bluetongue Lizard is an old man in Australian Aboriginal mythology. He is a trickster and a powerful sorcerer as well. The myth involving him is the wellspring of the Warlpiri fire ceremonies. He is often regarded as a deity, but this notion is not exactly true."
His story also mentions the "Cave of the Rainbow Snake" where he would have gotten his powers.
Whatever Misty Hannah is after, Australia has a much richer mythology than I had previously thought. Perhaps some of it could be of assistance.
