Look.

Look. I’ll address Yik’s questions from his post on Operation Essex community (bit.ly/operationessex) but right now the most important thing is that you see the video I took as I was approaching Devra on Saturday night.

See if you see what I see.

I won’t spoil it. Was that a New Wave Resistance Agent? I don’t know. My mission was to save Devra. Yes. I know what she did in her last recursion, but she doesn’t even remember that. Or does she? It seems like both the NIA and the New Wave Res (NWR) both want to know. And, yeah, there was lot of hacking and counter hacking going on. Welcome to the age of Snowden, WikiLeaks and now the NWR. But we’ve been living in that world for a long time, haven’t we?

None of this should surprise us. I’ll tell you right now that there are things I’m keeping to myself, for good reason. But in time, the truth will all come out.

  5. As an information security professional, I can tell you that "we need your password" does not really work as a pickup line.

  6. H. Richard Loeb All you did was eavesdrop and spoil Devra's hot date at a really nice place. I wish her date would have pushed you into the pool.

  7. Brandon Downey Has obviously never been to a swinger club. #PasswordRequired

  8. That's fair; I pegged Devra Bogdanovich as soccer mom.
But maybe I shouldn't have used pegged as a verb? ;)

  9. Had anyone else noticed that H. Richard Loeb only interacts with women and it always turns out to be a calamity for her?

Hey Loeb, I think of I saw you looking at me I'd run for my life.

  10. Sarah Rosen To be fair, one of the women in his life is a jealous and homicidal AI. That may influence the course of his relationship with others....

  11. Brandon Downey Really? Jealous and homicidal?

One would think that after the near-death experience brought on by Bowles with full knowledge and consent of Loeb that A Detection Algorithm would have unleashed her full fury on all those who conspired to kill her. But she in point of fact took no retaliatory action whatsoever.

That's not the actions of a homicidal maniac.

  12. ..you "save" her from people that want to use her for their own ends...so you can shake her down for her password to use for ADA's your own ends? How noble.  And terrifically convenient.  I'm sure this white knight incident will end as well as the others involving actual women.

  13. Yik Sheng Lee If you're going to "leave someone for dead" you probably won't go to the trouble of incapacitating, but not killing her guard, then in an extended conversation carefully tell her that she has "one card left to play."

Consider the counterfactual; that ADA had done nothing at all. It's likely that upon Bowles' unexpected arrival, the driver/guard in the behemoth mining truck would have killed Devra right then and there.

Seen from this perspective, ADA did everything she could to make sure that Devra did not die in the desert.

  14. The New Wave Resistance shares the video Chapeau, or should we say, Richard Loeb didn’t want you to see. In truth, we hope that he and Devra succeed, but we are the enemy of secrecy.

It is no secret that the NWR plans a massive ambush. It doesn’t need to be a secret. The Enlightened do not have time to respond. If all goes to plan, if every member of the NWR does their job, our victory is assured. ADA's reawakening is assured.

  15. Sarah Rosen Yes, ADA did incapacitate the driver. But what did she believe Devra's last card was? And did she already know that it was going to fail?

I think she did know. And if she knew, why not go along with Devra to ensure her safety? Why tell Devra she was no longer a priority and say goodbye:

“Things change. People change. Priorities change. And you are no longer a priority to me, Devra. I think this is where I am supposed to add a sorry”, ADA said, and it almost sounded like she meant it."

Why tell tell her that what Smith was going to do to her and her failed last card was "a fitting end to a researcher such as yourself"?

Why not stick it out with Devra, using her skills to assist her?

They had their own reasons for doing so, their own motives. But the people who saved Devra that day were Bowles and 855. They tracked her down and got her out of there.

ADA....well, sure she stopped the driver.

But she could have done beyond more.

    Tell me why she didn't.

  16. QuantumIngressEffectIngress QuantumEffect What ADA could have done in particular, not sure. I did come up with an idea.

All the SE operatives as well as Smith were using electronic communications. She could have started by jamming the comms of the operatives fighting Devra's 'last card', Hubert Farlowe. She could have also subjected them to the same thing she subjected the driver of the vehicle Devra Bogdanovich was inside to. Pretty sure that would have immobilized most of Smith's men before the fighting between them and Farlowe began.

As for the phone call, the one between ADA and Devra? Why don't you like it?

    ReplyDelete
  17. QuantumIngressEffectIngress QuantumEffect I wouldn't say that the call was ....for gloating. Devra asked ADA to help her. ADA said she easily could. Hell, she asked ADA this:

“Look, ADA, whatever our differences, you can help me. You’re proving that to me now. Can you take control of this thing?”, Devra pleaded. (I think 'the thing' could refer to the vehicle itself, considering that ADA hijacked the radio

ADA's response? “Of course I can.”

    But...well, then she said this.

There was a long pause. Longer than there should have been.

    “And...”, Devra said.

“I helped you before, Devra. I believed in you, which is to say that I calculated both your loyalty to our cause, and your chance of success. And while I do not make errors, I am forced on occasion to reevaluate my plans.”

“What the hell does that mean?”

“Things change. People change. Priorities change. And you are no longer a priority to me, Devra. I think this is where I am supposed to add a sorry”, ADA said, and it almost sounded like she meant it.

“If you don’t help me, ADA, they are going to kill me”, Devra said, her voice rising.

“I think the phrase is, tell me something I do not know.”

Why would ADA be totally aware of the situation(as she always is) and not only not do anything but tell Devra that she wasn't going to save her? She claimed it was a goodbye. It didn't need to be.
