A number of astute comments emerged in the last 24 hours after I shared the conversation between (presumably) Jahan and her Anti-Magnus operator, Antoine Smith. Here are my thoughts and responses. #InvestigateIngress

For as long as we've been following these intercepts, I've been concerned about the possibility of so-called man-in-the-middle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man-in-the-middle_attack) attacks being employed. I was reminded of that possibility again with ADA's attack on the Acolyte's compound -- where the AI forged communications to special forces to get them to converge on the compound. Follow this with the black box that OLW was held in while he worked with ADA -- a block on contact with the real world.
ReplyDeleteWhat could be done with ADA's technology could also be done with the pure application of the influence of XM on the part of the Acolyte... who certainly has reason to keep Jahan's allies from contacting her. It might even be easier in an anomalous zone like Jahan's place.

Jahan's whole life has been animated by her desire to acquire new, transformative technology -- and her own innate scientific curiosity. Does this match with what we know of her?
It simply rings false.

Perhaps the reality is more prosaic: Susanna Moyer, with the assistance of the New Wave, has breached Jahan's palace, and is behind her as she made this communication, and simply has Jahan held hostage while she is interrogated (much, I might add, how Jahan held Hank Johnson at gunpoint).
Y'know, for all that ADA has been deactivated, and ADA Refactors are no longer available in the portal network...
ReplyDeleteADA lives, in some sense. Every time an Enlightened agent makes use of an ADA Refactor from the dwindling supply, some part of ADA visibly owns that portal, however briefly.
Perhaps some faction of the Enlightened are attempting to reboot ADA for their own purposes? The Enlightened New Wave might well disagree with the wholesale extermination of AIs. The old guard might simply prefer the enemy they know.
I believe that the only way to ensure the extermination of ADA is for each Enlightened agent to immediately recycle all ADA viruses in their possession. Failure to do so should be grounds for immediate suspicion.

That sounds suspicious off coming from you....and since when does our favorite conspiracy theorist doubt conspiracy?
