So the reason ADA attacked the compound was to get Oliver out of there, using the attack as a excuse.

ReplyDeleteI think A Detection Algorithm is trying to cultivate and bring Oliver Lynton-Wolfe to her side, much like how she tried to cultivate Devra Bogdanovich and Jahan. What interest does ADA have in OLW? What can OLW offer ADA?

ReplyDeleteWas ADA mistaken about the strike team's objective or was the intel leak from last week? Was there actually a fork of ADA on each side of the conflict sending conflicting orders? Was the ADA who spoke to OLW incorrectly predicting the motives of the ADA who directed the assault? What seems like a surface level interaction with a straightforward interpretation opens some very complex questions when seen in light of the prior leak.

ReplyDelete• Provide a diversion for OLW to escape
• Leave something behind at the compound
° possibly surveillance equipment
° possibly a weapon (remember that we recently learned of the existence of "vehicle scale XMP")
Even that would leave open the question of whether OLW was misled intentionally to manipulate him into leaving, Sarah Rosen - that the attack was aimed at weakening the Acolyte's compound in general and robbing it of resources, OLW being the most valuable.
ReplyDeleteThis leak does seem to rule out my earlier belief that OLW was uncomfortable working with the Acolyte and arranged his own escape, but it opens up options for internal conflict in the complexity of ADA's actions I'd previously dismissed. I'm beginning to think that, having been deprived of a central processing node at CERN and ported to various cloud, XM, and N'Zeer platforms there might be a breakdown of internal coordination occurring.
Mike Wissinger Your first paragraph is spot on. I'm skeptical about the second. I'm not convinced that ADA has ever strayed from what I believe to be her original purpose: To be the failsafe that protects the lives of the researchers in the ABADDON nest.
