It's becoming clear to me that the Niantic Project is coming full circle.

Is it just me or was there something significant in the onboarding of the Niantic Investigators?

A series of questions has been haunting me: If the investigators are appearing as XM shards, that means that they must have been simulacrum prior to Jahan activating the Shōnin stone.

And if they were simulacrum, then... are they all dead? At least their human mortal coils?

I mean... Hank died before he became a simulacrum...  And I guess the same could be said of Jarvis (if that's indeed what he was...)

So… Are they dead? If so, when did they die, and where are the bodies buried?

Many questions. Not many answers. But clues. There are clues and scattered bits of evidence. Sometimes that's good enough.

  1. My working theory, Mr. H. Richard Loeb and Niantic:

On epiphany night, the known scientists died and instantly were replaced by simulacra without even realizing it - just like Hank Johnson. Latters transformation is yet known and has been reconstructed.

I think, the N'Zeer have only restricted access to the real world until now, but have influence in the portal network/on xm-flow (resp. dark xm/chaotic matter) since we reached the darsana point.

To say it in a slightly sloppy way: the sharded researchers are "possessed" by and became tools for the N'Zeer, to force their way out of the dephts of the portal network into our world to finally face their arch enemys - the shapers.

Of course the inflicted persons had and have no knowledge of this circumstance, but in this light their actions between epiphany night and their disappearing (and return as shards) give a whole new bigger picture, right?

  2. Given the event when the Power Cube exploded changed the entire history of the Niantic Project that's my first choice.  The researchers were killed during the event and simulacrum created, ready to accept Calvin's side of events.

There's no reason to think that Calvin hadn't already been replicated before that though.  His Anti-Magnus roots go back a long way.

  3. Dead, or in suspension? Jarvis's body was somehow incorruptible according to his autopsy. Hank's was revived when his recursive state closed. Death as we know it is permanent and irreversible state. This is something different. Something new. Or very, very old.

  4. And what of A Detection Algorithm? She is sharded but there is no simulacrum. So clearly a physical human body is not necessary for sharding. What is necessary? A mind? A "spirit"? Clearly A Detection Algorithm had it.

I suspect that we are more machine than we would like to believe. That there is much less difference between us and ADA than we are comfortable with.

Corpses? Simulacra? We are all machines and life itself is computation.

  5. I also believe epiphany night to be the most likely candidate. We clearly see in Ingress:Origins that Oliver Lynton Wolfe is left in very poor condition by his direct, up close exposure to the experiment. But what about Jarvis and Devra? Jarvis was human enough at Zurich Haupbanhopf to take a bullet to the head and look normal until moments after his death... I believe that's when he became a simulacrum. Devra on the other hand is a bit more of a mystery. Did 855 actually succeed in killing her in the Skocjan Caves? Was she merely exposed to XM there but shed her mortal body somewhere else? Her experience is a little different...

  6. JoJo Stratton I was thinking exactly the same, besides, were all this specific scientist participating in this project by choice and random circumstances or were chosen knowing that all of them would die at once and they would be an active part of the experiment? Maybe this same experiment has been repeated generation after generation and someone is only looking for a different outcome.

  7. No references, it's clear that if a death event is necessary to become a simulacrum then Devra's is yet unknown to us, though there have been plenty of times that she was at the business end of an assassin's weapon. It seems very possible that one of them was successful but it was not recorded for us to read. Or perhaps something happened to her at Visur or even the CDC.

  8. That may have been when Jarvis's 13Magnus transformation ritual was completed but he wasn't reembodied as a simulacrum until his shards were reassembled at Cupid's Span.

  9. Perhaps there are no true sensitives? Only people or simulacrum?

  10. Did Devra die when she jabbed herself with her "portal virus"?

  11. Anyone want to hazard a guess as to why Klue S. hasn't sharded?

  12. Well regarding those that have and have not sharded, use venn diagram reasoning with events to see what is the common over lapping link

  13. Sarah Rosen Klue wasn't part of the Niantic Project and so wasn't present for Epiphany Night. It has been theorized by many that the cube detonation quantum entangled those present that night, and those were the ones sharded in the Shonīn incident.

  14. That's a very interesting possibility that she became a simulacrum when she injected herself, Sarah Rosen. Very interesting.

  15. Klue S. wasn't sharded because she wasn't a simulacrum. She was never at the Niantic Project, never hit by the cube blast.

If she was a simulacrum, A Detection Algorithm would never have needed access to Hank Johnson.

  16. It seems there are several ways to make the pieces fit though.

  17. I'm unsure about the niantic member dying at Epiphany night, is that is the case, why did Victor Kureze reacted differently that the others?

On any case, if this event happened there, I would say that Roland Jarvis and Devra Bogdanovich were not affected,  Roland Jarvis was shot afterwars, so that could explain his death. Devra Bogdanovich could have died when she give herself the "XM Vaccine", that could explain too, why A Detection Algorithm discarded her afterwards.

  18. Ana Prados The entanglement event that led to the mass sharding is what I was saying happened Epiphany Night, not the simulacram event.

  19. There was some discussion that Calvin and the rest of the "sensitives" were "sensitive" because they were already simulacra.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sarah Rosen Prior to being recruited for the Niantic Project (or, in some cases Whydah)? If so, what led to them becoming simulacra? We only know of early XM-type experiences for Jarvis (the jet crash) and Misty (Green flash).

  21. Paul Fritschle it's kind of a chicken-or-egg problem, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Sarah Rosen Do you have a link to that theory, btw? I've not seen it before. It seems to have a lot of issues in terms of causation.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Paul Fritschle it was something that I brought up in Essex that caused some discussion.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sarah Rosen Ah--ok. Are there any posts or anything going into detail, or showing what brought the idea to you?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Paul Fritschle play all of the "KLADA" videos end to end in order. Do it with your eyes closed and listen to the voices. Figure out for yourself who said what to whom. The jig should have been up as soon as ADA says, "How did you have these thoughts without me knowing about it? " obviously Klue was still in control of her own mind and could keep secrets.

  26. did someone just type this too fast and miss that "dephts" is kind of spelled wrong?  Some computers can do spell checking now.  Not a really advanced idea.  Looks like a bogus craigslist ad.
