For the record, to the extent that I can tell, I am no longer Resistance. I am not Enlightened. I am a Truthseeker. I gather facts, make connections, ask questions, form hypotheses and test them. I am no better than my information. It appears that odd things are appearing in portals. We know the origin of some of them – Hank Johnson's Breadcrumbs, but others are more mysterious – of unknown origin. The line between electronic and exotic may have been breached. I ask you to report anything you find. I say this even to the Resistance: Wouldn’t it be a good thing to know the nature of the N’zeer before we invite them into our world?

ReplyDeleteIs it possible that ADA has developed a subconscious leak by having become entangled with certain portals? The CERN and #ShaperData portals would figure prominently on any such watchlist. Portals entangled with Klue S. might also be worth checking, but ADA has stated that the information leakage is not within the set of data that has been shared with the ADA-K node (assuming you're referring to the same body of information).
ReplyDeleteWouldn't you want to know who the Shapers are? What kind of question is this? The people i'm Resisting warn me of the N'Zeer? They've warned us before, during and after each Anomaly we were heading towards doom. Me and my people feel fine. Don't worry so much HRL. We'll take care of it ;)
ReplyDeleteThird faction is already for spoofers, fourth faction is botters, "faction independent" (is that even a possibility?) "truthseekers" (when truth is mainly defined by winners of wars (unsure how that plays out in endless wars though...) could be a fifth faction then.... :D

ReplyDeleteThat's a bit different from the resistant viewpoint you seem to be supporting: Bringing something onto humankind you don't know simply because something else you don't know warns against it.
I will accept that you are without faction. But do you have a scanner at all? And if so, what color is it?

ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Truthseekers are making a stand again. For a period of time, options were so faction colored, it felt like there was little left for us.
ReplyDeleteH. Richard Loeb you are still resistance. You are old school screw anything that is not human (while hoping to plop an AI into a human meathbag for a cheap thrill) type of resistance. You are what the resistance was before ADA went out of control and started to think for herself and do whatever she wanted. If Klub died as a result of the shaper sequencenADA fed her and wasn't turned into a Drone you would still be yelling "Resist!" at the top of your lungs while taking a blind eye to the N'Zeer scheme.
ReplyDeleteYou can't say "I'm a truth seeker, I'm not resistance" and still say "No to Shapers, let's not even learn about them and no way will we even think about learning from them." The moment you sit down at a ENL retreat with Mazz and Jarvis and take notes on the Ultimate and have a honest discussion about what the shapers want and their civilization is the moment I truly consider you to be unaligned.

ReplyDeleteThese two factions are an artificial creation, forced by the way the scanner works. In real life, there are multiple factions which appear in natural way. There are inner conflicts on both sides - Resistance has the humanists vs symbiotics issue while the Enlightened struggle with the "religious" approach towards the Shapers (Jarvis) countered by Hank's sceptical attitude. Here come more - "gray" faction who want to get rid of the XM at all, teal guys who agree to some extend with both ideologies, the Truthseekers (btw, it's awesome that one doesn't even have to download the scanner and choose their alignment to still be a part of Ingress) and... people who just want to play. Or cheat. Or more.

Puppets of their own ignorance, all they want is to play with the portals, driven by a teenage angst against the Enlightened. Much respect to H. Richard Loeb for abandoning the ways of Resistance.
